Spinal Adjusting (SMT)
Spinal Adjusting or manipulation is used by chiropractors to reduce or remove fixations of spine that will alleviate neck pain, back pain, leg pain, and headaches.
Often spinal joints and spinal muscles can cause vertebra to move outside of their normal ranges of motion which are often referred to as being “out”.
The high speed, low force adjustment returns spinal vertebra their proper range of motion by breaking any aberrant scar tissue and by setting off a muscular reflex that reduces spinal muscle spasms. This allows the spinal segment to move more freely which lets the segment heal in a healthier way and usually provides immediate pain relief.
Spinal adjusting should be painless with most people if the adjustment is done properly without excessive force.
